No, but yuwie has a very bad reputation. I once pointed out a scam on it in response to a question, and received a seriously threatening email claiming to be from someone who new its' owner, claiming that it was associated with Google and Yahoo. They are not nice people.

PS-to answer that 1st response, the Yuwie video(I believe it is the gentleman who started Yuwie) explains EVERYTHING, including the referral process. Just watch it in full and you will understand how the whole process works. There are no tricks or anything hidden!

Mr Rogers, 33, says some of Yuwie's members are earning between £200 and £250 a month, although payments "fluctuate".
"Yuwie users get paid every time they log on, send a message, upload a picture or invite someone to join."
"If someone only refers three of their friends, who refer three of their friends through 10 levels, that one person will collect a percentage of advertising revenues from about 88,000 end-users, which could be about $8,800 [£4,427] per month for that person."
Some say this is little more than a technological version of the reviled pyramid scheme.
However, Mr Rogers, a web designer from Oklahoma, disputes this because he says he does not charge his members, unlike traditional pyramid schemes.
He insists he does not want people to join Yuwie just to make money.
"I want people to join because it's a good networking site not because I'm paying them.
"I just think it's a cool idea to pay the users who are providing all the content," he says.
The site is certainly proving popular for those who do not mind lots of pop-ups and flashy graphics.
Yuwie users apparently love adverts, though, because "they know they will share in the revenue".
Since launching in July, Yuwie already has 344,444 registered members, with nearly 50,000 joining in December alone.
Yuwie is now ranked among one of the top 2,500 websites in the world, according to alexa.com, which tracks web traffic.
So can we really make money from the details that we share so freely at the moment?
And is this a logical evolution for social networking sites, who have made enormous strides this year, but may struggle to keep the momentum next year?

Mr Rogers admits Yuwie has suffered in the past from people using scripts and programmes to falsely inflate the number of page views they got.
He insists it now has strict measures in place to stop people abusing the page view system.
Mr Prentice says it is also important to make a distinction from sites such as You Tube and Revver, which recently announced they would financially compensate users who produce and upload content.
"Cases like You Tube are different as they are about creation.

Delete all of the things on the menu that comes up.. then close your browser and restart it..

I don't think it's a scam exactly.....more a marketing ploy. They're trying to make it popular by pretty much paying people to spread it instead of paying for advertising. The advantage of paying people is that they save money because they are paying pennies, litrally, because for all the work you do, you get pretty much nothing. One dollar is probably a high estimate of how much someone would make for getting as many people as they could to join, and waisting all their time. I don't think it's even a very good site.
I personally prefer quality in a social networking site, rather than being paid pennies to use it. I mean think about it, sites like Yuniti ( http://yuniti.com ), Myspace ( http://myspace.com ), and Facebook ( http://facebook.com ), are providing you a SERVICE, we should be thankful we don't have to pay. Not be trying to make a quick penny off of them.
Choose a site you like, not a site that has to pay for you to like it.

Apparently you make money just for using it.

I just joined as well. From what I can see... Yes, you can make money, but it's a long way off. There's a certain amount of page views you'll need to get on your page before you can request a payment. So, unless you have TONS of referrals and a very popular page, your first payout might be in 6 months to a year. Page views are paid based on Yuwie's advertising rates, and that rate varies. Earning reports based on how many views your page has gotten are generated between the 10th and 15th of each month. I'm not sure if there's a minimum payout or not before they send you your earnings Via Paypal or check, I'll have to wait and see, but I have a feeling that any tangible payout is very far off.
In the end, it's how you use it. If you create a popular page, with pictures and interesting blogs, eventually , you might make some money.
My advice, make a good effort on your page and have fun, but don't worry too much about payment. If it works out, you'll be pleasantly surprised later on.
